Featured Artist Ahmed Tahir(Saudi Arabia)

Born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1990 grew up in a multi-cultural community that gave me the space to   teach myself drawing and find my passion for Visual Art. Started drawing cartoon characters on school  books, notebooks, newsletter, magazines  and school tables, also  help  me  exercise    drawing  human  figures,  animals  ,  cars,  bikes, and trees.

Attending architectural science and design university in Malaysia opened a new sight to explore, discover and exercise by the same time between 2009 – 2013 was the time I started experimenting on colors, society and culture. Especially, during that time the university was one of the most innovative, creative and business oriented university in Malaysia.

When I came back to Riyadh in 2014 I started painting more, meeting and collaborating with local artists, participating in exhibitions around Riyadh City. I was still struggling with discovering my style at that time.

By the time between 2015 – 2022 I  was getting commissioned to paint for royals, public figures, collectors, companies like Volkswagen group, exhibiting in Universities like Princess Nura university,  royal event halls like Osha, Towaqe palace in Diriyah historical district. I was lucky to be one of the very few non-saudi artist to paint live in 6 different locations in Riyadh Season, commissioned by The Saudi  Authority of Entertainment.

Exhibitions

2016. Exhibited Osha Event Hall, Diriyah, Riyadha, Saudi Arabai as part of the open ceremony for the new transformation of the venue. It had a portion that was visited by 5000 daily visitors.

2017 – 2018. Riyadh Season,1st and 2nd edition, exhibited in 6 different locations around Riyadh City. I was one of the very few selected artists who painted life in outdoor exhibitions in multiple locations.

The project was a cultural and social project, to exchange knowledge. An experiment to test how the people of Riyadh will interact with art and artists as visual entertainment using visual art for communication.

2018. Participated in a theatrical show opening Antar and Abla theatrical stage show. Exhibiting my latest paintings and some of my student’s paintings to support and encourage the younger generation to explore their skills.

2020. Participated and directed an exhibition in Rafal hotel in Riyadh partnered with Naila Art gallery, one of the most prestigious art galleries in Saudi Arabia, it was a Riyadh based visual artists collaboration project.

A contemporary oil painting commissioned by one of Saudi Arabia biggest ports in 2015, located at the east side of the country.

A self-expressed African family painted in surreal style, expressing the rich history of the Nubian people  the  jewelry  ” old  Sudan,” how the  Nubian woman was the mother of the community, the innocent and playfulness of the Nubian child expressed by the white pigeon in front of the blue curtain. The father of the community who does most of the building of the community.

The representation of 2400 years old Nubian treasures and artifacts not been painted enough by artsists, film makers, music or even the visual art form. The rich and colorful background is a representation of a rich culture and undercover meanings and treasures of this civilization. The knowledge of what’s Nubatea and the Kushite kingdom is still not recognized enough around the word.
